Picture Galleries with Photoshop:

To create a thumbnail page, also known as a picture gallery, in Photoshop, follow the steps below.

  1. Choose File -> Automate -> Web Photo Gallery

    Selecting Web Photo Gallery

  2. Choose a style, and options from the dialog box shown below. A preview will appear on the right hand side of the dialog box. Page background color and text colors and size can be set in the options dropdown box.

  3. Choose the files to display by clicking "Source" and choose a destination for the files (note: this should be an empty folder.) Click OK, and Photoshop will start the conversion.

  4. When the page is generated, it will be opened for previewing in your Web browser.

  5. Browse to the directory where you chose as a destination. Import all of the files and folders in that directory into your web. The simplest way to do this is to open FrontPage, and drag all of the files and folders into the proper folder in your web. Alternatively, choose File ... Import in FrontPage, and choose "Add Folder" in the resulting dialog box. Choose the folder that contains index.htm, and then click OK.

  6. After the folder is imported, link to the photo gallery from your other pages. You can also edit the text under each photo by opening the index.htm file, and remove the gray header bar from the top of this page, and all the pages in the "pages" directory, with FrontPage.

If you'd prefer to create thumbnails pages with other tools, see our alternative methods.
