Categorizing & Sorting Graphics

If you have many graphics files on your computer, you will soon realize that a single folder for all images is insufficient. To solve this problem, IrfanView allows you to sort images by thumbnail view.

  1. Make new folders in your current graphics folder for each image category

  2. Open IrfanView, and select File -> Thumbnails, or press the keyboard shortcut, T

  3. Browse to your graphics folder. You should see your new subfolders, and all the pictures in that folder.

    Selecting the desired thumbnails

  4. Select the desired thumbnails, using Ctrl or Shift to select multiple files.
  5. Select File -> Move Selected Files, then enter your desired subdirectory in the screen shown below. You can also browse to the desired folder with the "Browse" button. To move the files, press the corresponding numbered button on the bottom of the screen. Your files will be moved to the corresponding directory.
