Weather and
Climate
Weather is what
nature is doing now. When we talk about the weather, we are
talking about what is happening now or what will happen soon. It is sunny or
cloudy. It is hot or cold. It is windy or calm.
Climate
is how weather acts over many years. Is it hotter
this summer that last? What was the rainiest year? Does Nebraska get more snow
than Kansas? Both weather and climate are important because they change what
we can do.

Right now, people are worried about how humans are changing the world climate.
They want to know if pollution is making the world warmer. If the world becomes
a lot warmer, glaciers could melt. The sea levels could rise. There could be
very dry weather or droughts.
Just remember:
- All parts of the world do not change in the same way.
- Some change occurs naturally.
- Changes in other parts of the world can change the weather here.
