The virus type is identified when testing was performed
for verification -- i.e., serological or electron microscopy -- as
opposed to plant symptoms being used for identification of the
virus. In some cases a generalized tospo kit was used, which does
not differentiate between TSWV and INSV. These are identified as
TSWV/INSV in the database.
In at least two cases the thrips species identified in
the original publication was not correct, and later identification
verified by Laurence Mound. These are referred to under the
infection type.
Common names are listed only when they were
specifically referred to in the publication. No effort was made to
match regional common names with species names.
