Objectives of Project 

This project addresses Objectives I and II of the USDA-CSREES Risk Avoidance and Mitigation Program request for proposals, i.e., develop methods of pest management that reduce or eliminate the risk from pesticide residues.  Additionally, as defined by the RFP, we have been developing and implementing information intensive approaches to pest management based on a more complete understanding of crop and pest biology, their interactions and mutual impacts, and factors impacting the stability of pest management systems in major cropping systems.  Finally, the RAMP program requires an outreach component to promote the exchange of pest management information among researchers, extension educators, producers, commercial grain handlers, and commodity groups as it relates to the project. An outcome of the research will be explicit pest management technology that is disseminated via extension bulletins, workshops, national working conference, and an already developed on-line resource (web site). 

            To address the objective of developing innovative management technology, the scientific participants have been grouped into research clusters or teams of scientists.  The specific objectives and scientific participants include:
