Conference on the Use of Antimicrobials in Cattle Production being held this week on the K- State campus: First K-State veterinarian Mike Apley looks at the general issue of antimicrobial resistance as it applies to cattle health management as well as human health...and why this is of such great importance to the beef cattle sector The second speaker. USDA veterinary microbiologist Paula Fedorka-Cray discusses the National Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring System (NARMS), which continually stands watch on the resistance factor associated with livestock production...she talks about the realities of the issue, saying that to date, the beef cattle industry is doing a solid job of antimicrobial management in herd disease control. |
