Student Interest Groups & Organizations

 


Student interest groups most directly related to your major are described below.


The Kinesiology Student Association (KSA) is the undergraduate student organization within the Department of Kinesiology. The objective of the organization is to advance the interests of kinesiology; to foster a spirit of loyalty, friendship, and cooperation among students in this field of academic study; and to prepare students through experiences and responsibilities for a career in the area of kinesiology. Students must attend a minimum of three meetings to be considered a member. Meetings are generally held once a month.   KSA activities are posted on a bulletin board in the hallway outside of Natatorium 4.


The Health and Nutrition Society (HNS) is the undergraduate student organization in the Department of Human Nutrition. The HNS meets to discuss upcoming events, field trips, and money-making ventures. Invited speakers provide information regarding student internships and jobs. This group is open to all students and faculty interested in Human Nutrition. Notices regarding this group are posted on the HNIG bulletin board next to JU 144.

Fruit of the Fight (FOF) is an organization for those who have a passion for general public health.  It is targeted to those who have been personally affected by a disease, are at risk because of family history, or have a strong passion for health as either future health professionals or health educators.  This organization aims to prevent chronic diseases through the encouragement of healthy lifestyles.  Goals of this group are education, promotion, and fundraising.  Contact Kacey Provenzano at khp@ksu.edu for more information.


The Student Dietetic Association (SDA) is the undergraduate organization for students in the Department of Human Nutrition and Hotel, Restaurant, Institution Management and Dietetics interested in the dietetic profession. SDA meets monthly to discuss upcoming events and organize club activities. Invited speakers provide information on career opportunities. Information regarding SDA is posted on the bulletin board across from JU 150.


K-State Athletics, Clubs and Organizations. K-State has over 300 campus-wide interest groups and organizations that you can join. You can find out about these at the Student Government office located in the basement of the Union  These include college councils, community service groups, honorary societies, multi-cultural groups, National Greek Organizations, religious groups, sports clubs, and special interest groups. Examples of sports/activity clubs are: aikido, ballroom dance, bowling, cricket, cycling, karate, lacrosse , rowing, rugby, sailing, soccer, swimming, taekwondo, tennis, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, and water skiing.
