Course Sequence

The Nutrition & Kinesiology curriculum is intended to be a 5-year program (140-147 credits). A few students have completed it in 4 years by taking summer courses in addition to full semester loads.

A sample course sequence is shown online at  Course Sequence . You should also plan yours, taking into account prerequisites for each course and when they are offered (Fall, Spring, Summer).

Some professional courses (HN, Kinesiology) are offered only once a year, and this is especially true for most HN courses. This makes planning more difficult, especially if those courses have several prerequisites. Your professional courses and their prerequisites can be viewed at:   Nutrition Courses or  Kinesiology Courses

To help you plan sequencing for HN and KIN courses there is a user-friendly "grid" on the web: the NUKIN Course Offering Guide.

Also be aware that relatively few professional courses are taught in the summer, so students usually take their professional courses during the Fall & Spring and "save" some general requirements (humanities, sciences, etc) for the summer, if they want to graduate faster. Many students take summer courses at Kansas community colleges because that is more convenient for them (see sections on Off-Campus classes , Summer & Intersession classes,  and Courses Nearby). Students should also be aware of the General Education Requirements  for courses that must be taken at KSU.

One last note... is that many of the HN courses are now taught online during the "off" semesters through the Division of Continuing Education.  For example HN 400 Human Nutrition is taught "in class" during the spring but is usually offered "by distance (CD-ROM)" during the fall (and sometimes summer too).  It usually costs resident students more to take courses this way, but for many it is worth the convenience and flexibility.  The courses may require instructor permission.  See the DCE web site
