These two flag leaves are infested with leaf rust. The leaf on the left is starting to roll up and will probably die with today’s heat. The right leaf has already rolled and dried up. There is very little green leaf area left, so it is not producing any carbohydrates (through photosynthesis) that will be transported into the kernels (grain). |
