Grain on the screens
photo 154a Now, we’re looking at the top screen where the seed is dropped into the cleaner. These screens shake and move back and worth to separate small seed and unwanted materials from the large seed. (We want large seed for planting.) You can see whitish stuff falling off the screen, where does that stuff go? Good question, let’s see.
photo 154b The screenings, which are the seeds that are too small or broken and chaffy material, are dumped into the discard bin. (Please ignore my tennis shoe in the lower right corner of the picture.)
