| August 17 | |
| During the middle of August the ground is prepared to plant wheat in the fall. Heres a tractor pulling a chisel and fertilizer tank. The chisel turns the soil and destroys weeds. We are applying liquid nitrogen fertilizer, which is in the big tank, and liquid phosphorus, in the tank on the chisel, at the same time. Nitrogen and phosphorus are important nutrients that plants need to grow. | |
| Getting a little closer to the tractor you can see the chisel turning the soil. | |
| From behind the tractor you can really see the chisel turning the soil. Between you and the tractor the soil is smooth, but there are green weeds growing. If you look on the other side of the tractor you can see the rough ground where the chisel has gone, but you dont see many green weeds. | |
