Freeze damage

photo 50a

This is an example of damage caused by a light freeze. There is only slight damage to the leaf tips. This type of leaf damage won’t cause a grain yield loss.

photo 50b

This is an example of freeze damage that is a little more severe than the simple damage in the last picture. More than the leaf tips are damaged. This wheat was growing rapidly and had lush vegetative growth when the freeze occurred. Sometimes the stems will be damaged and the wheat will lodge or fall over. There could be a small grain yield loss with this damage.
