This
site contains Poinsettia Trials Results from three sites:
the Flint
Hills of
Manhattan,
Kansas; the plains of
Urbana,
Illinois; and the fall line area at Petersburg
in central Virginia.
We trial cultivars from four breeding companies:
Dummen USA,
Fischer
USA,
Paul
Ecke Ranch,
and
Selecta
First Class.
By
following the same production practices across sites, we are able to
evaluate basic growth characteristics and timing of flower
development (response weeks) of diverse Euphorbia pulcherrima cultivars under natural photoperiods in each
location. Consumer
preferences surveys yield information about which poinsettia
cultivars retail buyers and end-consumers want to purchase.
