Hulbert Lab

The main emphasis of the lab is the function and evolution of cereal disease resistance genes and the defense responses they control.  Our experimental systems include several complex loci of maize, including Rp1, Rp3 and Rxo1 and other cereal genes that are associated with durable resistance. Other lab projects include non-conventional approaches towards disease resistance via transgenics and engineering plants for non-food uses.
