Released: May 20, 2008 Rathbun to Join Staff of K-State Research and Extension Ellsworth County Office MANHATTAN, Kan. - Jamie Rathbun will join the staff of the K-State Research and Extension Ellsworth County office as a family and consumer sciences agent, effective June 1. Rathbun, who grew up in Marshall County, earned a bachelor's degree in human ecology from Kansas State University.
She worked previously as a family and consumer sciences teacher at Quivera Heights and Wilson high schools (USD #328) in Lorraine, Kan. Extension agents are jointly employed in a partnership between K-State Research and Extension, headquartered on the Kansas State University campus in Manhattan, and the local county Extension council. Family and consumer sciences extension agents provide leadership in their communities by developing and delivering educational programming relative to family related issues including nutrition, food safety, parenting, financial management, health and safety. The role of K-State Research and Extension is to encourage the adoption of research-based information to improve the quality of life for Kansans.
