K-State Youth Sheep Day Slated for March

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State University’s annual Youth Sheep Day will be March 10 in conjunction with K-State Sheep Day at Weber Hall Arena on the K-State campus, said Cliff Spaeth, K-State Research and Extension sheep production and management specialist.

The event teaches youth and parents about topics such as showmanship, shearing, nutrition and animal evaluation techniques. This year, a showmanship competition and a drawing for gift certificates and other door prizes will follow the morning sessions.

The registration cost is $15 per person for both youth and adult participants if paid by Feb. 23 and $20 after that date and at the door. Participants will receive a T-shirt and lunch. These items cannot be guaranteed for late entrants, who will also not be eligible for the showmanship contest.

For registration forms and more information, interested persons can go to www.asi.ksu.edu  and click on “Youth Sheep Day” (right side of the page). They can also call Julie Voge at 785-532-1264 or Spaeth at 785-532-1255.
