Ag Profitability Conferences Slated in Several Kansas Locations

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Nine conferences focusing on profitability in agriculture are scheduled for locations around Kansas in late January and early to mid-February.

The conferences, organized and sponsored by Kansas State University Research and Extension, will focus on similar issues at each location. Although speakers and exact topics will somewhat vary from site to site, the conferences will cover: Farm and Ranch Transition – Succession Planning, Risk Management Issues, Economics of No-Till, Ag Policy Outlook, and Steel and Machinery Prices.

Some of the conferences also will include such topics as Land Values; Economics of Soil Sampling; Grain Marketing Issues to Think About; Disaster Aid or LRP; Economics of Size in Farming; Irrigation in 2005 and Water Rights; NAFTA; Managing, Motivating and Compensating Family Labor; and Machinery Costs, Decision Tools.

Each conference begins at 8:30 a.m., except for the Feb. 16 conference in Hutchinson, which starts at 9:30 a.m. Most end at 3:30 p.m. The dates, locations, and contact information for registrations and questions are:
