Released: February 12, 2004 Workshops Can Help Professionals Target Financial Management Strategies MANHATTAN, Kan. – Money matters. Disagreements about it are one of the leading causes of marital problems and divorce, yet professionals who counsel couples about their relationship often do not feel adequately prepared to counsel them on financial management, said Esther Maddux, K-State Research and Extension financial management specialist. To help them, Maddux is planning “Financial Tools for Helping Professionals,” a one-day workshop that will address financial considerations for families in conflict and crisis; and financial tools and strategies to help guide clients in problem-solving and decision making that will help them resolve conflict and build a sound financial future. The workshops are recommended for marriage and family therapists; mediators; mental health counselors and clergy, she said. They will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at four sites in the state:
The cost to attend the seminar, which includes a workbook, lunch and refreshments, is $40 (if received before Aug. 1) and $50 after. Space is limited and early registration is advisable.
