K-State to Hold March 18 Program On Managing Ag Value-Added Businesses

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas Ag Innovation Center will hold the first of a series of programs on managing value-added businesses on March 18 at the Ramada Inn in Manhattan, Kan.

“The first of the programs in this series is ‘Fundamentals of Management and Decision-Making,’” said Vincent Amanor-Boadu, agribusiness professor at Kansas State University and Ag Innovation Center director. “The program has been designed to help agribusiness owners and managers understand the logical processes involved in successfully managing a growing business.”

The interactive program will use mini-case studies to drive home concepts and tools that can help business owners and managers sharpen their skills, Amanor-Boadu said.

Registration for the day-long program, which runs 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., is $20. Reservations can be made by calling 785-532-1522 or by email to sbarrett@agecon.ksu.edu . The fee covers materials, lunch and refreshments during breaks. Space is limited, so early registration is suggested.

The Kansas Ag Innovation Center is a partnership involving K-State Research and Extension, Kansas Department of Commerce, Advanced Manufacturing Institute, Kansas Polymer Research Center and 21st Century Producers.

For more information and a registration form, interested persons can visit the Web site http://www.agmanager.info .
