Released: February 18, 2004 Adding Value to Ag Businesses Topic of Feb. 26 Program MANHATTAN, Kan. – Adding value to any product can make the difference between a business’s success or failure. To help agribusinesses look at ways to add value to their products, the Kansas Ag Innovation Center at Kansas State University is presenting a one-day course on, “Opportunity Scoping: The Art of Discovering Profitable Value-Added Businesses.” The course will be held Feb. 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Ramada Inn Plaza Hotel in Manhattan. The cost of the program is $20, which includes lunch and refreshments. The meeting is for anyone who is looking for ways to extend their agricultural business into the value-added domain, but is not sure where to start or what to do, said Vincent Amanor-Boadu, director of the Kansas Ag Innovation Center. The program will help agribusiness owners and managers identify, select and focus on the opportunities that fit their strengths. The Kansas Ag Innovation Center is based in K-State’s Department of Agricultural Economics. Its partners also include the Kansas Department of Commerce, the Advanced Manufacturing Institute, the Kansas Polymer Research Center and 21st Century Producers.
