Swine Profitability Conference Slated Feb. 5 at K-State

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State University will host the annual swine profitability conference Feb. 5 at the university’s student union.

The pre-registration fee is $25 and is due by Jan. 28. The late fee is $50.

The program will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with several invited speakers:

* Dr. Steve Henry from the Abilene (Kan.) Animal Hospital will discuss Kansas Pork Production: Challenges and Opportunities.

* Rebecca Crumbaker of Crumbaker Pork will present Our Story: Surviving in the Pork Industry Through Difficult Times.

* Dr. Rodger Main of Murphy Farms Midwest will present Keys to Remaining Profitable at Any Size.

* Dr. Roger Campbell of AusGene International will present What Needs to be Changed in the U.S. Industry for Future Competitiveness?

* Temple Grandin, a professor at Colorado State University, will present Swine Handling and Animal Welfare: How Fast Food Companies may be Setting the Standards for the Future of Your Production System.

The conference is co-sponsored by Kansas State University’s Department of Animal Sciences and Industry; K-State Research and Extension; Kansas Pork Association; and the American Association of Swine Practitioners.
