June 6 Field Day Scheduled Near Belleville

MANHATTAN, Kan. – New wheat releases and row crop issues will be among the topics of the day at the K-State Research and Extension Spring Field Day scheduled at the North Central Experiment Field near Belleville on June 6.

The day begins at 7:30 a.m. at the experiment field one mile west of Belleville on U.S. Hwy. 36.

K-State wheat breeder Allan Fritz will discuss new wheat releases, and Extension plant pathologist Bob Bowden will update participants about wheat disease concerns for 2001. Extension weed science specialist, Dallas Peterson, will discuss herbicides for weed control in wheat.

Specialists will be available to answer questions concerning alfalfa, corn, sorghum and soybeans, as well as wheat.

Participants may also view crops involved in wheat variety performance tests and wheat seed treatment tests.
