Mission:
American Legion Boys' State of Kansas provides an interactive forum in which
a realistic learning-by-doing process of exploring government at the state and
local level can take place.
Description:
The six day program is held in Manhattan, KS each summer. Participants
experience hands-on learning by becoming a mock or virtual government. Many
extra-curricular activities are also conducted.

The purpose of the African American Male Leadership Academy is to enhance
the quality of life of African American men and boys and their families.

The academy encourages personal, social, academic, and leadership growth. It

The Leadership Symposium is designed to motivate high school African
Americans who have exhibited leadership potential to experience personal growth
and accept leadership positions in their communities, schools, and future
careers.
Description:
The symposium is designed primarily for students in grades 9-12 who have a
3.25 minimum grade point average in their precollege curriculum or are viewed as
gifted with leadership potential. It features prominent African Americans in
educational, corporate, political, and community leadership positions.

The mission of the Greenbush Leadership Academy is to: cultivate and promote

Independence Community College leadership classes are interdisciplinary
courses designed to enhance the student's college career by providing
information, discussions, and hands-on experience in ethics, decision making,
and leadership.
Description:
The main two courses offered are Ethics in Leadership and Introduction to
Leadership Concepts. These courses cover the qualities and principles necessary
for leadership and decision making. The ethics course focuses on the results of
decisions made with lack of ethics in a historical perspective.

The Institute for Municipal Leadership is a program designed to familiarize
city council members with the varied aspects of municipal leadership.
Description:
The course is designed for local government elected municipal officials to
learn and renew leadership skills. Upon completion of seven of the eight
Saturday workshops ( totaling 42 hours of instruction), participants will
receive a Certificate of Municipal Leadership.

The Kansas Student Leadership Forum on Faith and Values provides student and
adult leaders the opportunity to dialogue on the topic of student leadership, as

Empower Kansas youth with the tools necessary to form partnerships between
youth, volunteers, extension staff, and communities.
Description:
Built around the theme Leadership, A Knowledge Within You, the Forum brings
Kansas teens together for three days of workshops, activities, and interaction
with their peers. The Forum is an environment for youth to network, share ideas
and programs, and have a voice in the development and implementation of programs
that affect them. Another feature of the Forum is the election of the Kansas
State 4-H Council.
