Once your manuscript has been accepted, we will require that any electronic images, line art, halftones and color figures you are supplying on disk to include a directory of the files contained on the disk, and a hard copy printout of each figures.  Supplied hard copy must match the digital file.

You should discuss figure sizing specifications with the journal office prior to digital file submission.  The digital figures should be the final size desired, and all mounting should be done electronically.  The editorial office may also require proofs of the images to approve prior to submitting the files for processing.

Halftone and color images should be scanned at a minimum of 300 pixels per inch (ppi).  Line art should be scanned at 1200 ppi.  Please note that nearly all images that are downloaded from the Internet or that are in JPEG or GIF format will be 72 dpi and not acceptable for the printing process.

Digital color files must be submitted in CMYK mode.  Digital color proofs supplied with the file must be output in CMYK mode.

Halftones should have end dot settings of 2% in the lightest area of the image and 98% in the darkest area of the image.

Indicate the file format of the graphics.  We accept TIFF or EPS format for both Macintosh and PC platforms.  We also accept image files in the following Native Application File Formats: Adobe Photoshop (.psd) and Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) (use Press setting under Job Option).

Include the screen and printer font tiles for any test that as been added to the figure.  PC or Macintosh versions of Adobe PostScript fonts should be used.  Do NOT us TrueType fonts.  Do NOT use system "bitmap" fonts.  To avoid font problems, convert all type to curves or paths
