BRIEF DESCRIPTION (include major objectives)This program is a community educational outreach campaign that promotes use of the Kansas Food Assistance Program and healthy eating and physical activity by eligible older adults, so as to help them with grocery purchases. This allows them to eat better improve their health and retain their independence longer. At the same time, it promotes economic benefits to communities by infusing more federal monies into local businesses.
Major objectives:
Community and older adult participants will increase their knowledge about the Kansas Food Assistance Program (also known as the Kansas Food Stamp Program).
More community members will refer their friends and neighbors in need to the program, more people will apply for benefits, and more eligible older individuals will participate in the program.
Participants in food assistance programs will improve their dietary quality by increasing their variety of foods and by eating the number of serving from the food groups recommended in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. |
