Whom Do I Contact?

What should I do if I suspect an animal might be showing signs of FMD?

Do not leave your farm!  If you suspect a  case of FMD or other foreign animal disease is encountered, livestock producers immediately contact your veterinarian.  The veterinarian will contact the USDA APHIS Topeka office (785.235.2365) and/or the Kansas Animal Health Department.

Representatives of the KAHD are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at (785.296.2326).  An answering machine is available at the USDA APHIS office and will be monitored on a regular basis when the office is not open.

Additionally, George Teagaden, Kansas State Livestock Commissioner, may be contacted.

  • Office Phone   (785) 296-1765
