Photo by Frank Peairs, Colorado State University.

Body colors usually shades of brown but color variations may range from greens to nearly black; body has 4 distinct spots on top of the 8th abdominal segment. Head with distinct reticulations. Mature length 1.5 inches. As the name would imply this pest is usually found in seedling wheat in the fall.

For control information refer to the publication Wheat Insect Management for 1999 (Feb. 1999)
