Turfgrass Weed Control Research

Dr. Matt Fagerness

The turfgrass research team at Kansas State University and the Kansas Turfgrass Foundation (KTF) are each dedicated to providing better turf for all of Kansas. One key component of this mission involves addressing issues or problems unique to weed control. The transition zone climate we find ourselves in creates a diverse spectrum of weeds we need to deal with and an equally diverse array of challenges for effective control of these weeds. Below is a list of key weed control projects conducted in 2001, each linked to a summary report which includes application specifications, selected treatments and application dates, results, and commentary on the significance of the results.

Note: While much of the information contained in the weed control files is self-explanatory, the files to which the above titles are linked contain abbreviations for weeds and data types, as well as letter codes for treatment timings.
