Kansas Farm Accident Facts

• The Kansas Department of Health & Environment lists agriculture as one of the most hazardous industries in Kansas


• In 2007, 18 Kansans, ranging in age from 11 to 83, were killed in agriculture-related incidents. Nine of those deaths involved tractors.
  
  
• Farming is one of the most dangerous occupations in the United States. More than 700 farmers and ranchers die in work-related accidents each year. Another 120,000 agricultural workers suffer disabling injuries from work-related accidents. It is also estimated that 104 children are killed annually in farm accidents.

 
• Farmers, ranchers and their families live, work and play at their workplace. This often exposes them to diverse hazards associated with machinery, chemicals and livestock.
