Electrical Safety

Electrical Safety at Fairs, Field Days and Other Public Events

Electrical safety is an important consideration at all public events, especially when these events occur outdoors, in damp conditions, or in facilities with unfinished floors.  Refer to our Electrical Safety Recommendations for guidance on how to eliminate electrical hazards at public events.  You can use our Basic Electrical Safety Checklist to conduct an informal inspection before each public activity.

Resources on the Web:

Electrical Safety Foundation has many free publications to help you work safely around electricity.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website also has practical information about electrical safety.

The National Fire Protection Association publishes the National Electrical Code and provides practical fact sheets on electrical safety.

For information on electrical safety in agricultural settings, see the National Ag Safety Database.
