2004 Accomplished All new and existing staff and students were instructed on the use of MSDS sheets, and filled out the New Employee Safety Orientation Checklist, which were filed with each person’s employment papers.
2004 Accomplished Provided additional information to all faculty, staff, and students about computer ergonomics, Worker Protection Standard for pesticides, and annual respirator fit test.
2004 Accomplished Evaluated Entomology Business Office workstations for ergonomics, and purchased new furniture as needed.
2004 Accomplished Filed MSDS sheets by each faculty member’s name in the main office to allow for easier access.
2004 Accomplished Conducted periodic inspections to address hazardous waste, pesticides, and other safety issues.
2004 Accomplished Reduced targeted safety and compliance problems in laboratories by 69% during the year as documented by audits from the K-State Research & Extension safety office.

2002 Accomplished Some very old chemicals in the subbasement Room 13 and the basement Rooms 31, 32 and 33 of Waters Hall were discovered by the Entomology staff during the process of cleaning up the basement and picked by the staff from the KSU Public Safety Office.
2002 Accomplished A container for depositing any fluorescent bulbs that need to be disposed was designated for the Department.
2002 Accomplished The KSU new smoking policy was distributed to the Department via e-mail and was also posted for some hourly student-workers who had no departmental e-mail access.
2002 Accomplished Information on radiation safety training for the fall semester was distributed in the Department via e-mail.
2002 Accomplished Employees participated in the following safety training: hazardous waste disposal and fire safety.
2002 Accomplished A departmental safety seminar was provided for employees and students on September 13.
2002 Accomplished Information on fire safety while using gas stations was forwarded to the entomology personnel via e-mail.
