This is a better picture of the hollow stem stage that was given to me by my friend and colleague, Dr. Gene Krenzer from Oklahoma State University. On the right, you can see the whitish stem and the hollow stem and as you look to the left you can see some vertical whitish-green bands and the spear-like structure, which is the growing point. |
