These are symptoms of Barley Yellow Dwarf at a later growth stage, the boot stage (the boot stage is when the wheat head is about to emerge), when it usually becomes apparent. When wheat is infected with this disease in the fall it is more damaging to grain yields. You can see the infested area is in a circle. This is the area where the aphids landed and were feeding. |

Here you can see the leaf tips of the uppermost leaves are showing the symptoms of Barley Yellow Dwarf. Some leaf tips are yellow and sometimes they are reddish-purple. In fact, this same disease is called "redleaf’ when it occurs in oats. |
